Fishing at the 1900 Summer Olympics

There was a small fishing demonstration at the 1900 Paris Exposition, with 12 French fishermen competing on the Île des Cygnes, a long island in the middle of the River Seine. Fishing has never been on the Olympic Programme at any other Olympics. Although pro fishing is now popular in the United States, as represented by the Bassmaster series of events, there is no chance fishing will be on the Olympic Programme in the future.
