The mountain biking program in 2000 was the same as in 1996. Men and women contested a cross-country mountain biking event, with the men racing over 49.4 km and the women over 35.7 km. The mountain bike races took place at Fairfield City Farm. Italy’s Paola Pezzo defended the gold medal she had won at Atlanta in 1996, while the men’s race went to Frenchman Miguel Martinez.
