The Holmenkollbakken or Holmenkollen Ski Jump in the north of Oslo is to ski jumping what Wimbledon is to tennis or Madison Square Garden is to boxing. It is quite simply the spiritual home of the sport. 104,000 spectators congregated to watch the ski jumping at the 1952 held on the last day of competition. They were not to be disappointed as Norway continued their gold medal streak. The Holmenkollen hill, which first staged competitions in 1892, had a K-Point of 72 m.
