The Nordic combined competitions were held at the Russkiye Gorki ski center, a ski resort which was built in the 400-inhabitant village of Esto-Sadok, which lies on the northern slopes of the Aibga mountain range. The facility had a capacity for 7,500 spectators, with plans for it to become the national training center for Russian ski jumpers after the Sochi Olympics.
The program remained the same as four years earlier at Vancouver. There was a team competition and two individual events, one on the normal hill and one on the large hill, both followed by a 10 km run.
