Equestrian eventing was contested at the marvelous venue of the Château de Versailles, with the standard programme of an individual and a team competition. The teams were composed of three riders, all three scores to count, although substitute riders were allowed, similar to Tokyo 2020. The team and individual events were held concurrently, with the individual scores counting towards the team competition.

Germany’s Michael Jung won his third gold medal in the individual eventing, after triumphing in 2012 and 2016. He finished eighth at Tokyo 2020. Great Britain defended their gold medal in team eventing, led by individual bronze medalist Laura Collett. It was the fifth gold medal in the event for Great Britain, moving them ahead of Australia and the United States, who have four each.
