Embusen refers to the spot where a kata begins, as well as its line of movement. Nearly all kata start and end on exactly the same embusen point. Iaido is a modern Japanese martial art, which practises smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard or saya, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard. Iaido practitioners are called iaidoka. This form of kendo was demonstrated at Tokyo in 1964.
