Description

The Icelandic form of wrestling, called glíma, was held at the Olympic Games twice as a demonstration sport. In both London 1908 and Stockholm 1912, the top Icelandic wrestlers competed at the Olympics, but it helped little in popularizing their sport, which is still mostly contested by Icelanders.

The sport is currently governed by the International Glima Association, which was founded in 2007.
