Guy de la Chapelle lived in the 16e arrondissement in Paris, where he was a landowner. In addition to his 1900 Olympics bronze medal in doubles, de la Chapelle is known to have competed at three major events on the continent in 1901. He lost in the first round of all three, however, losing at the Paris International, the German International, and at Hamburg. De la Chapelle also competed at the 1902 Paris International, again losing in round one.
