Biography

German curling skip Andrea Schöpp competed in the 1988 and 1992 Olympic demonstration event, which Germany won in the latter of those years. She competed at Nagano 1998 and Vancouver 2010 to lead the German team that finished eighth and sixth respectively, when curling was, by then, a full Olympic sport. Schöpp won two gold medals at World Championships (1988, 2010), two silvers (1986, 1987), and one bronze (1989). At European Championships she won eight gold, one silver and seven bronze medals.

Schöpp’s mother Eleonore and her brother Rainer were also German international curlers. Andrea was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award, for her team win in 1992. Domestically, she won numerous national titles.
