German curler Monika Wagner competed in the 1988 and 1992 Olympic demonstration events, which Germany won in the latter of those years. She competed at Nagano 1998 and Vancouver 2010 to lead the German team that finished eighth and sixth respectively, when curling was then a full Olympic sport.
Wagner won two gold medals at World Championships (1988, 2010), two silvers (1986-87), and one bronze (1989). At European Championships she won seven gold, one silver and five bronze medals. Wagner was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award, for her team win in 1992. Domestically, she won numerous national titles.
