Jean-Charles Collard was a sculptor who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerpen, where he later worked as a teacher. His preferred motifs were animal sculptures, figures, files and allegorical compositions. During World War II, his studio and all its contents was destroyed. His father Armand (1838-1910), actually a doctor, and his twin brother Georges (1881-1961) were also artists who preferred animals as motifs. The family was distantly related to Jozuë Dupon.
