Argentina’s Norberto Cabrera was a middleweight boxer who fought during the 1970s and 1980s. Cabrera won many fights in Argentina, including one against Hugo Corro, but never competed for the Argentine title. Cabrera was part of Argentina’s boxing delegation at the 1972 München Olympics but did not start his fight against Im Jae-Geun of South Korea.
In 1979 Cabrera was the first boxer from Argentina to fight against the American middleweight champion Marvin Hagler but lost in the eighth round. He fought professionally from 1977-86, retiring with a record of 23 wins (12 by KO), 9 losses, and 1 draw. After his retirement Cabrera ran a gym and trained several boxers, including Colombia’s Rafael Pineda, who became a light welterweight champion.
