Werther Arcelli was an Italian boxer between the two wars. A native of the Emilia-Romagna Region, he had a short career as an amateur with his brightest moment coming in Como in 1927, when he won the Italian title as a lightweight. Named only as a substitute at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, Arcelli turned pro and moved to the United States, where he fought most of his career.
Arcelli made his début as a welterweight on 24 March 1930, knocking out Stonewall Jackson. He later met many Italian-American boxers like George Salvadore, Tommy Romano, Johnny Troncone, and Tony Catalano. He returned to Italy for a brief appearance in 1932, winning four bouts and losing one. Arcelli ended his career in February 1939 at New York’s Rockland Palace defeating Pedro Montanez by knockout. Arcelli finished with a pro record of 48 wins (15 KO), 18 losses (5 KO) and 4 draws.
