Andy Keir was selected for the 1952 USA Olympic football (soccer) team but did not get to play in the Olympic tournament. Keir was from Southern California and enlisted in the US Navy, serving as a radioman in the Pacific during World War II from 1944-46. In 1964 he joined with other soccer enthusiasts and formed the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).
By profession Keir was an aerospace engineer who worked for 33 years at Rockwell International. His most notable project was the Space Shuttle, which required him to live at Cape Canaveral, Florida for a time. He ultimately retired back in Murrieta, California.
