Biography

Drafted by the New York Rangers in 1990, Doug Weight, a center, played 1½ years with the Rangers, but in a 17-year NHL career, still active through 2009, he has also played with the Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, and the New York Islanders. Weight finally played on a Stanley Cup Champion in 2006 with Carolina, and he has played in four NHL All-Star Games. He played two years of college hockey with Lake Superior State, and played in Germany in both 1994-95 with Star Bulls Rosenheim, and 2004-05 with the Frankfurt Lions. Weight has played in three Olympic Winter Games, played in the World Junior Championships in 1991, the World Championships in 1993, 1994, and 2005, and in the World Cup in 2005, all for the United States. He is a center and four times has ranked in the NHL Top 10 for a season in assists.
