Lawton Redman

Lawton Redman was a biathlete who competed at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. He had studied at St. Lawrence University in upstate New York where he ran track and cross-country and was on the cross-country ski team. Redman captained the St. Lawrence cross-country team in 1996-97 and won the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association cross-country meet in 1995, 1996, and 1997. He was later inducted into the St. Lawrence University Hall of Fame.

After graduation Redman joined the US Army and the Army’s World Class Athlete Program (WCAP). He started training in biathlon and won three US titles, in the 2001 sprint and pursuit, and the 2002 sprint.

Redman attended US Army Flight School in 2008 and was trained as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot. He deployed to Iraq twice, once in the Army infantry and later as a MEDEVAC pilot. After leaving the Army he served in the Vermont Army National Guard as a MEDEVAC pilot. Redman then became a physician’s assistant, working at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont.
