Tristan Gale competed in skeleton from 2001-2006, and in 2002 became the first woman to win a gold medal in the sport at the Olympic Winter Games. She had one other World Cup win, in November 2002, also at Park City, Utah, and was the bronze medalist at the 2003 World Championships. She failed to make the US Olympic team in 2006 and then retired.
