Dane Spencer was an Alpine skier who specialized in giant slalom, which he raced at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Spencer competed at the 1997, 1999, 2003, and 2005 World Championships, with a best finish of seventh in giant slalom at the 2005 Worlds. Spencer was US Champion in giant slalom in 1998 and 2005.
Spencer was on the World Cup circuit from 2000-06 and 2008. He missed most of the 2007 season after a severe injury he sustained at Whitefish, Montana on 14 February 2006. Spencer crashed off the Launch Pad jump, fracturing his neck and pelvis, with internal bleeding and spent a week in an induced coma. Although he come back to race again, he retired after the 2010 season.
Spencer attended the University of Colorado. He later became an assistant coach with the US Ski Team.
