Biography

Christina Oswald was a German ice hockey defender who participated in two Winter Olympics, finishing sixth in 2002 at Salt Lake City and fifth in 2006 at Torino. She also played in eight World Championships and won 287 international caps, scoring 79 goals and 90 assists. Through 2011, this was international record until Gunilla Andersson set the new record. In 1989, Oswald won a bronze medal at the European Championships.

At club level, Oswald played with TuS Geretsried (1991-2001 and again from 2013, when they were renamed ESC Geretsried), and SC Riessersee (until 1991 and 2001-09). She helped Geretsried win the German national title in 1994. Between 2009-13 she did not play ice hockey but raised her children. Oswald was captain of the German national team 12 years and, in 2008, was the first woman to be inducted into the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame. She became an economic clerk by profession.
