Smith Streeter had a 4-2 record to earn his silver medal and was the only roquist to defeat Charles Jacobus. Streeter was originally from Canada but in 1884 moved to the tiny village of Thawville, Illinois where he owned a large farm. He later donated the land on which Thawville’s Congregational Church was built. He became a US citizen in 1865.
