Yu Sang-Cheol was a football midfielder who competed for Korea at the 2004 Athina Olympics. He attended Konkuk University and then joined Ulsan Hyundai, playing with them from 1994-98, and then again in 2002-03 and 2005-06. He also played for Yokohama F. Marinos in 1999-2000 and 2003-04, and was with Kashiwa Reysol in 2001-02.
Yu was on the Korean national team from 1994-2005, earning 124 caps. After his playing career he became a coach and manager. He led Daejeon Citizen from 2011-12, Ulsan University in 2014-17, Jeonnam Dragons in 2018, and Incheon United in 2019.
