As a youngster, Irina Laricheva was engaged in shooting, ballroom dancing and cycling, and went on to graduate from the Moscow Medical College. She was a world shooting champion eight times, with seven team titles and one individual medal, in 2001. She also won four silver and two bronze World Championship medals. In addition, she captured six European titles, and was a five-time Russian champion. After ending her competitive career in 2016, Laricheva devoted herself completely to her family.
