Paweł Baumann competed at two Olympics (2004, 2008) as a sprint canoeist, and also appeared at four World Championships. At the Worlds Baumann won four medals (two bronze, two silver) from 2005-07, all in K-4, with a silver in K-4 1,000 and a bronze in K-4 500 in 2006. He won two bronze medals at the European Championships, both in K-4 1,000, in 2004-05. Baumann was a 16-time Polish Champion between 2002-11, with 15 titles in K-4 events, and one in K-2. He died at age 33 at the construction site where he was working.
