German springboard diver Tobias Schellenberg was disappointingly eliminated in the qualification round at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Nevertheless, he won the silver medal with Andreas Wels in the synchronised event.
Schellenberg and Wels also won the silver medal at the 2005 World Championships and two more bronzes in 2003 and 2007. At Europeans, the pair won gold medals in 2000 and 2006, and silver in 2002 and 2008. Individually, Schellenberg won the bronze medal at the 2004 Europeans. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award in 2005.
Following his studies in social pedagogy, he later served as a social pedagogue and child and adolescent psychotherapist in the department of pediatric oncology and hematology at Charité Berlin.
