Miroslav Pavelec attended several editions of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships during the 1950s and 1960s, but never reached the podium. His sole Olympic experience came at the 1960 Rome Games, where he represented Czechoslovakia in the kayak relay, 4 x 500 metres event, and was disqualified in round one alongside Ladislav Čepčianský, Vladimír Špaček, and František Vršovský. He was better known in his home country as being one of the founding members of Lokomotiva Nymburk, which for many years was one of the top sprint canoeing clubs in the nation and counted among its members world champion Jiří Vokněr. Pavelec earned several national and regional titles and worked in the administration of Lokomotiva Nyburk after his competitive days were over.
