Cindy Goodwin attended Denbigh High School just outside of Newport News, Virginia, and later graduated from Christopher Newport College in 1975. She competed for the Canoe Cruisers Association. Goodwin was the US Champion in K-1 in 1971 and competed at the 1971 World Championships. She later married and became Cynthia Wall, and taught biology and chemistry at Broad Run and Fauquier High School in her native Virginia.
