Biography

Wick Walker graduated from Dartmouth College, and then joined the US Army. He later earned a degree from the John F. Kennedy School for Special Warfare. Walker competed at the 1965, 1967, and 1971 World Slalom Canoe Championships, in addition to his 1972 Olympic appearance. He became a career military officer. After retiring he led whitewater expeditions throughout the world, as a Fellow of the Explorers Club, including travels to Bhutan in 1981 and Tibet in 1988. Walker and his wife also raised horses on a small farm in southwestern Pennsylvania.
