Dale Andersen

Canadian amateur boxer Dale Andersen made his début at the 1971 Canadian National Championships, winning the 119 pounds final in Kingston, Ontario. This earned Andersen a place on the Canadian team for the Pan American Games, reaching the quarter-finals in Cali. During late 1971 and early 1972 he fought in multiple bouts, winning the 125 pounds final at the Canadian Championships in May 1972. From there Andersen was selected to compete at the München Olympics in the featherweight class, but lost to Clemente Rojas (COL) in his opening bout.

The following year Andersen won another Canadian title, winning the 125 pounds final in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. In 1974 he boxed at the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand, winning bronze in the featherweight class after losing to Shadrach Odhiambo (UGA) in the semi-finals. After his boxing career Anderson worked as a driller in the Alberta oil fields.
