Biography

Born a year after his brother Paolo, who won a gold medal at Tokyo 1964 in team eventing, Stefano Angioni was a cavalry officer who competed at the 1972 München Olympics, also in eventing. An unfortunate accident on his horse Sauvage forced him to retire from the cross-country event, depriving the Italian team of his contribution.

Stefano Angioni was one of the riders who marked the Italian golden age of the 1950s-60s, when Italy was first in the world in the sport. He married Natalia Serventi, also a rider, who died in 2018.
