William Bradford was a career military officer who eventually became a general in the Army. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1916 and joined the cavalry. He graduated from l’École de la Cavalrie in Saumur, France. Bradford was given the Napoleon Cup by the Polish Ambassador to the United States for his contributions to equestrian sport.
