For many years, this athlete was listed as the same athlete who competed in swimming at the 1904 Olympics, George Van Cleaf, the confusion arising because of the similarity in their names. In addition to competing in the long jump and triple jump, Van Cleve placed second in the handicap broad jump during the 1904 World’s Fair events. This is considered a non-Olympic, or demonstration event, but during this competition, Van Cleve did record his known PR of 6.56 metres (21-6½).
Personal Best: LJ – 6.56 (21-6½) (1904).
