Biography

Norman Dello Joio was a show jumper who won an individual bronze medal at the 1992 Olympics. He also won a team gold medal in show jumping at the 1979 Pan American Games. Dello Joio won the 1983 FEI World Cup Final in Wien (Vienna), Austria. He twice won the American International, in the early 1980s aboard Allegro, and almost 20 years later, in 2004. He later became equestrian coach of Team Mexico.

Dello Joio was the son of Nicodemo “Norman” Dello Joio, who was a well-known American composer who earned a 1957 Pulitzer Prize, and the brother of Justin Dello Joio, also a prominent composer.
