Cheryl Abplanalp played handball for the USA at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She attended Davis and Elkins College, graduating in 1994, where she played field hockey, basketball, and softball. Abplanalp was all-conference in softball from 1992-94. She was voted Davis and Elkins athlete of the year in 1993 and 1994. Abplanalp was inducted into the Davis and Elkins Hall of Fame in 2001.
