Biography

Humberto González Juárez was the President of the National Olympic Committee of Guatemala from 1951 to 1952. In December 1970, the tortured corpses of journalist Humberto González Juárez, architect Armando Braun Valle, and the latter’s secretary were found in a sewage canal.

The victims were kidnapped on the highway to the Pacific on November 29. González Juárez, owner of radio Nuevo Mundo, was private secretary of President Jacobo Arbenz, president of the Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala and the Guatemalan Olympic Committee. In the 1960s he had received threats from the NOA paramilitary faction.
