General Wismoyo Arismunandar served in the Indonesian Army from 1963 to 1995 where he was the Army Chief of Staff from 1993. Arismunandar also served as the Commander of Army Strategic Command in the early 1990s and was the brother-in-law of Suharto, the second President of Indonesia. After his career in the military he had several prominent roles in sport in the country, including as the chairman of the National Sports Council, and as the President of the National Olympic Committee of Indonesia from 1999 to 2003.
