In 2015 Quiñónez repeated his 200 victory at the South American Championships, also leading Ecuador to victory in the 4x100. His greatest achievements came in 2019 when he won the 200 at the Pan American Games and won a bronze medal at the World Championships. Sadly, while still a young man, he was murdered on the streets of Guayaquil in 2021.
