Charles Hough was the youngest US rider and the leading American eventer at the 1952 Olympics, placing ninth in the individual event. He grew up in Burbank, California riding horses. Hough later entered the horse business, operating his own show barn in Northern California for 27 years. He later moved to Ocala, Florida where he worked in the race horse industry. Hough used to write the “Conformation Clinic” column for Practical Horseman magazine. His daughter, Lauren Hough, competed in jumping for the United States at the 2000 Olympics.
