Adolphus Roffe was a Missouri native who attended the University of Missouri. He became a cavalry and infantry officer in the US Army. Roffe commanded the 2nd Infantry Regiment in World War II from July 1944 to April 1945. His son, Adolphus, Jr., also became a military officer. He was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, during the Korean Conflict. Roffe, Jr. was taken prisoner-of-war near Kunu-ri, North Korea on 27 November 1950 and died while in captivity.
