Equestrian Marcel Rozier made his Olympic début at the 1968 Mexico City Games, where he placed 20th in the individual jumping event, but won silver with the team, alongside Janou Lefèbvre and Pierre Jonquères d’Oriola. He won the individual French national title three times, 1970, 1971, and 1974, and attended the Munich Olympics in 1972, finishing seventh individually and 10th in the team event, with Pierre Durand, Marc Deuquet, and his brother-in-law Hubert Parot.
Rozier had better luck at the 1975 European Championships, winning team bronze, and then took gold at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, with Parot, Marc Roguet, and Michel Roche. He then retired from active competition and took up coaching, running the French national team from 1977 through 1985, the Italian team from 1986 through 1989, the United Arab Emirates team in 1994 and 1995, and the French team again in 1999 and 2000. He founded the Espace Marcel Rozier for commercial sales and international competitions, but in 2010 he was sentenced to eight months’ probation and fined 5000 Euros after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old employee in 2006. His son, Philippe, won a gold medal in team jumping at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
