Biography

Sophie Kratzer was a German female ice hockey player who helped ESC Planegg win seven German Championships in 2008, 2011-15 and 2017. She played with Planegg from 2007-17 and also won the German Cup in 2005, 2010 and 2015. She also participated in five World Championships and the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games when Germany finished sixth, earning 72 international caps. By profession, she studied German, history and social studies. She then belonged to the Organizing Committee for the Men’s 2017 Ice Hockey World Championships in Denmark and Germany. She was also active with the International Catholic Mission Work. In 2020 Kratzer died in München from cancer, fairly young at the age of only 30 years.
