Biography

Arvi Tervalampi was a Finnish equestrian who competed during the 1950s. In 1956 the Olympic equestrian events were held in Sweden due to the strict quarantine laws for horses entering Australia. The Finnish equestrian delegation therefore made the short journey over the border to compete in the equestrian jumping events in Stockholm. Tervalampi did not have a good Games, tying with more than a dozen riders in last place after the first round, before failing to finish in the second round of the competition. He had better luck a year later when he became the Finnish champion in individual show jumping. From 1976 to 1997 Tervalampi served as the chair of the National Association of Finns in Sweden.
