Trevor Jacob was a snowboarder who competed in snowboard cross at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. He competed in that discipline at the 2014, 2015, and 2016 Winter X Games, with a best finish of fifth in 2016.
Jacob was also a YouTube influencer and a private airplane pilot. In December 2021 he posted a YouTube video in which he parachuted out of his place, later claiming that he had engine failure. A month after the incident he posted the video on YouTube as “I Crashed My Plane”.
However, after investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), it was determined that he had intentionally crashed the plane solely so he could film it and post it to YouTube. In May 2023 Jacob pled guilty to destroying the aircraft and lying to federal investigators about the incident. He was sentenced to six months in prison, which he was to begin serving in January 2024.
