Alberto Valdés Lacarra was a Mexican equestrian who competed internationally throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In 1980 Valdés was part of the team that won bronze for Mexico at the Moskva Olympics, with him also placing 11th in the individual event. Seven years later he won bronze in both the individual and team jumping events at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis. At the start of the 1990s he won a team gold at his home edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games before returning to the Olympics for the 1992 Games in Barcelona. Valdés’ father was also an accomplished equestrian rider who won a team gold at the 1948 London Olympics.
