Gusztáv Pados was a military officer who started as a volunteer soldier (1899-1900) after graduating from high school. He took the exam at the 6th Fire Brigade as a reserve officer, and in 1901 passed the additional examination to become a professional officer. Between 1905 and 1906 he was a squadron commander and then an officer for catering. In 1906 he became a student of the Equestrian Teacher Training Institute in Vienna.
In 1925 Pados won the Hungarian Championship in dressage. At the age of 55, he took part at the 1936 Berlin Olympics as a retired general and a member of HOTIS in Szombathely. He competed in dressage and finished 14th in the individual dressage and sixth with the team. In recognition of his achievements with the dressage team, the Hungarian Minister of Defense honored him after the Olympics. Pados served in the Army from 1899 to 1932 and retired as a Major-General.
