Biography
Little is known of J. Defert, including his full name. He lost one match in 1896 to Demetrius Casdagli in men’s singles. Defert competed for the Racing Club de France. There was a René Defert who was secretary of the lawn tennis section of Racing Club de France in that era, and may have been a relative, or possibly even the Olympian, but we cannot confirm that.
