Biography

Dick Ball rode the team time trial for the United States at the 1972 Olympics. Ball raced for the Old Town Bicycle Club. He also competed at the 1971 Pan American Games. Ball graduated from the University of Colorado in 1966 with a degree in mathematics. He earned a masters degree in math from the University of Wisconsin in 1967, and a PhD in math from Wisconsin in 1974. Ball became a professor at the University of Denver, with research interests in algebra and topology, combinatorics, topological dynamics, stability and complexity.
