Biography

Allen Bell was a track sprinter who raced at the 1956 and 1960 Olympics. He also raced on the road and was a runner-up five times at the Tour of Somerville. Bell also competed at the 1959 Pan American Games in the kilometre time trial. He raced most of his life, winning many masters races, including the Masters 55+ event at the Tour of Somerville. Bell raced for the Somerset Wheelmen.

Bell was a graduate of Somerville High School where he had been a state champion of wrestling in 1952. He was employed as a chief lineman for PSE&G for 40 years, retiring in 1995 and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on the USS Wasp aircraft Carrier.
