Biography

Randi Griffin skated for the combined Korean team at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. She was a dual citizen of the United States and South Korea, who was born in Chicago, but grew up in the Raleigh, North Carolina area with an American father and a Korean mother.

Griffin attended Harvard University, where she played hockey, but she later earned a PhD in evolutionary anthropology at Duke University, studying statistical methods where she focused on the intricacies of primate evolution and ecology. She then worked as a data scientist at Kayak and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG-X), and also taught graduate level courses at Northeastern University.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics Griffin scored the first goal for the combined South/North Korean ice hockey team. She played for the Ice Avengers in Korea and professionally in the USA in the National Women’s Hockey League with the Connecticut Whale.
