Leah O’Brien-Amico won three gold medals in softball at the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Olympic Games. A first baseman/outfielder, O’Brien-Amico also won two World Championship gold medals and two gold medals at the Pan American Games, in 1999 and 2003.
As Leah O’Brien she played for the University of Arizona, leading them to three NCAA titles, and in 1994 set the record for the highest batting average at the College World Series with .750. She later gave softball clinics around the country, did color commentary for ESPN on college softball games, and had a Christian Sports Show on the Trinity Broadcasting Network.
