Biography

Stanisław Gazda placed sixth in the individual road race at the 1960 Roma Olympics. Gazda represented Gdynia Fleet and Bielsko-Biała Start. He raced six times at the amateur World Championships road race and competed in the Peace Race in 1959-62 and 1964-65. In 1971 Gazda was the initial winner of the prestigious Wodzisław-Karwina-Wodzisław international race in Upper Silesia. He won the Polish cyclo-cross title in 1961 and the Tour de Pologne in 1963, also placing second in that event in 1959, and third in 1958 and 1972. For his cycling achievements, Poland made Gazda an Honored Master of Sports and he was given the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
